SEARER - Arthur T. "Art"

Arthur "Art" T. Searer,
loving husband, father,
uncle, grandfather, and
great-grandfather,
passed away peacefully at the age of 95.
Art was born on April 7th, 1925 in
Frankstown Township, PA to Emory and
Rosetta (Campbell) Searer and grew up
in Lewistown, PA. He served in the
United States Army from April 1946
through July 1947, where he was
stationed in the Pacific, most notably
Korea. After serving his country and
receiving an honorable discharge, Art
returned to central Pennsylvania and
became the proprietor of several
Atlantic Service Stations in Harrisburg,
PA, as well as Town and Country Buick
in Jersey Shore, PA. While there, he
was also one of the original founders of
the Citizens Hose Company of Jersey
Shore, now known as the Jersey Shore
Area Ems. It is in Jersey Shore that Art
met his future wife of 60 years, Margaret
(Eck). Art and Margaret eventually
moved to Depew, NY, where, while
raising their children together, Art
worked as the General Manager of Ken
Trible Pontiac in Depew, NY and
Murray Price Pontiac, Cadillac, and
Buick in Westfield, NY. After retirement
in 1986, Art and Margaret moved back
to the Nippenose Valley for 16 years,
before returning to western New York to
be closer to their children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Art had an affinity for adventure and
speed. Working around automobiles his
entire life was not just a career but a
passion. He was always up to date with
the latest and greatest automobile
technology and not only loved new
cars, but loved finding out just how fast
they could go. Art and Margaret
traveled the country by car, and
seemingly in nothing but the newest
and cleanest automobiles. In addition to
cars, snowmobiling was another
passion that Art had and passed down
to his children and grandchildren. Art
was preceded in death by his father,
Emory, and mother, Rosetta; his
siblings, Emory, Edward, Glen, Dale,
Donald, Lyle, Mildred (Goss), Lois
(Walter), Alice (Ritzman), Lilian (Olson),
and Winifred (Carlson), his daughter
Ann Marie "Susie", and his son Larry
(Diana). Art is survived by his wife,
Margaret, son and stepsons Thomas
(Darcy), Daniel Lehman (Ann Williams),
Steve Lehman (Joan), and Ron
Lehman (Liz), Nine grandchildren, ten
great-great-grandchildren, and scores
of nieces and nephews. In lieu of
