It is with great sadness that the family of Charles "Chuck" Walter share his passing on June 16, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. His impact on those around him was profound, touching hearts and leaving an indelible mark.
Chuck was a lifelong parishioner at Our Lady of Pompeii in Lancaster, NY, participating in the Holy Name Society and church choir. He was an usher at Sunday Mass and volunteered at weekly Bingo, as well as other church activities. Pompeii honored Chuck's unwavering faith with the 2018 "Man of the Year'' award.
Chuck attended Lancaster High School where he ran cross country and track. He went on to earn his degree from Alfred State College. For the past 20 years, Chuck partnered with his brother Chris, and brother-in-law Dave, on real estate investments in the local area.
He was a dedicated, lifelong Red Cross blood donor and an avid volunteer with many organizations including Seven Seas Sailing and WNY Adaptive Water Sports. Chuck was very proud of his commitment to AA for over 36 years. He made and maintained lifelong friendships through this organization.
Chuck's love for family knew no bounds. He is survived by 5 sisters and 4 brothers; John Walter (Diane), Mary Patricia Stephan (Paul), Mary Joanne Loecher (Thomas), Michelle Arnold (Randy), Thomas Water (Mary), Christopher Walter, Pauline Zydel (David), Carolyn Rey (late Christopher), Matthew Walter (Kelly). Chuck was a proud uncle to 24 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. He joins his parents, John "Mickey" Walter and Patricia (Suchan) Walter in eternal peace. Chuck's sense of compassion, love and resilience will live on in the hearts of all that had the honor of knowing him.
Chuck's life and legacy will be celebrated with a wake on Friday, June 21 from 3-7pm at the Wendel & Loecher Inc. Funeral Home 27 Aurora St. Lancaster, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii Church on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 am.
