Age 92, wife of the late Joseph
A. Wechter, M.D. and mother of
five children: Kathleen Wechter
(Michael Jacobster) of New York
City; Dr. Carolyn (Dr. Alvaro) Ribes of
Terneuzen, the Netherlands; Bonnie
(Louis) Fadel of Chesterton, Indiana;
Christine (Robert) Neidecker of Vienna,
Virginia; and Joseph (Kimberly)
Wechter of Lancaster, New York. Also
survived by nine grandchildren: Andrea
Fadel, Ian Jacobster, Samuel Fadel,
Thomas Neidecker, Arianna Wechter,
Tabitha Wechter, Emily Neidecker,
Natalie Wechter, and David Neidecker.
Sister of William (Mary) McTigue of
Ossining, New York; the late Robert
McTigue of Buffalo New York; and the
late Jean (Glenn) Sherman. She was
also Aunt to many loving nieces and
nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at St. Mary of the
Assumption R.C. Church Saturday
July 22, 2023 at 9:30 no prior visitations. Mrs.
Wechter was active in her community
and involved in many organizations.
She served on the Lancaster Library
Board for 24 years, the Meals on Wheels
Board for 18 years, and the Lancaster
Opera House Board of Trustees.
She was active at St. Mary's Roman
Catholic Church of Lancaster and in
school activities as well. She enjoyed
travelling to Florida, cruises, swimming
and bridge. She lived in Lancaster, New
York for many decades, then moved
to Greenfield Manor in Lancaster
and participated in many activities
there. Mrs. Wechter graduated from
Kensington High School and received a
degree in Nursing from Meyer Memorial
Hospital (ECMC) and the University of
Buffalo.
