Gloria Jean (Waite) Chaves, age 83, of Lancaster, New York, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 27, 2025, following at-home hospice care for cancer.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Aurelius; parents, Neal and Marie Waite; and her sister, Arlene Boguhn. She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth (James) Aprile and Corrine (Donald) Koepf; her six children: Aurelius Marc (Heidi), Laura (Richard) Stotz, Gregory (Karen), David (Susan), Rebeccah (David) Young, and Deborah (Fredrick) Greco. She was beloved by 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gloria was born in Buffalo, NY and lived the last 65 years of her life in Lancaster, NY. After teaching in the Buffalo and Lancaster schools, she married in 1967 and spent the next 20 years raising her family and serving at Lancaster Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, youth group, and Bible studies. Gloria returned to teaching at Como Park Elementary until her retirement in 2004. She was passionate about supporting mission work both locally and around the world as well as promoting the causes of Christian and conservative groups.

Family will receive relatives and friends at the WENDEL & LOECHER INC. FUNERAL HOME 27 Aurora St. Lancaster, NY Thursday from 3-7 pm.  The Memorial Service will be held Friday morning at 11 am at the Lancaster Presbyterian Church 5461 Broadway Lancaster, NY. A lunch will follow services in the fellowship hall at church. All are invited.
