Judith
Breckenridge
Mar 13, 1940 — Nov 5, 2024
Breckenridge - Judith Ellen , 84, passed away on November 5, 2024, at The Greenfield Continuing Care Community in Lancaster.
She was born on March 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Gertrude Stumm.
Judy graduated from Alexander High School in 1957. She completed her RN degree at Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing in May 1960. Judy was employed as a Medical Cardiology Staff Nurse from 1960-1965. From 1965 -1976, Judy worked part-time at Buffalo General Hospital Cardio-Respiratory Intensive Care. She would later go back to SUNY at Buffalo and received her BS in Nursing in February 1976, followed by graduating Cum Laude with her MS in Nursing in September 1979. Judy served in several school districts as a Substitute School Nurse Teacher before taking a permanent position as a School Nurse Teacher/Practitioner at West Seneca Central Schools where she employed from 1980 until her retirement in 1999. In addition to all this, she was also the 'Nurse on Call' for her extended family and friends.
Judith married her beloved husband, David Breckenridge, in May 1961 and together they shared 63 years of marriage. Judy and Dave raised two daughters, Mary Beth and Ann at their home in Lancaster, NY. One could not ask for a better wife and mother. She was very involved as Room Mother for her daughters' elementary school classes and hardly ever missed a meet, match or performance for their many swimming, tennis, orchestra, marching band, piano or other events and activities. As a Nanna, Judy loved the time she spent with each grandchild, whether that be reading to them, vacations in the summer, swimming, or being present at special school or marching band performances.
Judith was very involved member at Lancaster Presbyterian Church where she was Director of Vacation Bible School (1966-1967), Director of a week-long summer Junior Camp at Duffield (1972-1978), Senior High Advisor (1977-1978) and a Sunday School Teacher over several years. Judy also enjoyed being a member of the Lancaster Opera House and helped usher during plays and performances.
In her free time, Judy enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, gardening and camping.
She is survived by her husband, David; daughters Mary Beth (Allan) Bakerink of Canfield, Ohio and Ann (Richard) McCord of Copley, Ohio; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Chris) Wolfgang, Scott (Molly) Bakerink, Sarah and Meredith McCord; two great-grandchildren, Owen Wolfgang and Brooklyn Bakerink; and her dear sister, Elaine (Joseph) Amedick. She will be greatly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date at Lancaster Presbyterian Church. Judy will be laid to rest in Marilla Cemetery. Share condolences at wendelandloecherinc.com
