It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louis Gnagnarelli Sr. — everyone's favorite Papa, and the loving heart of our family.

Louis passed away on July 6, 2026, in Buffalo, New York — the same city where he was born on November 14, 1938. He was the son of the late Carl John Gnagnarelli and Jennie Regina (Loiacono) Gnagnarelli.

Over his 87 years, Louis touched countless lives with his humor, his kindness, and his generous heart. Above all, he was a devoted family man. His family was his greatest pride and his whole world, and everything he did was rooted in his love for them.  He also found great joy on the golf course, where he spent many happy days and proudly achieved three remarkable hole‑in‑ones.

Before retiring, Louis proudly served as an District Manager for MetLife in Lockport, New York, where he was known for his integrity, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the people he served.

Louis was the beloved husband of Joanne Gnagnarelli. Loving father of Louis C. (Tamara) Gnagnarelli Jr. and Carl E. (Andrea) Gnagnarelli.

Cherished grandfather of Jenna (Shawn) Nye , Alivia (Patrick) Eck , Adriana (Daniel Corbi) Gnagnarelli, Miah (Anthony Szefler) Gnagnarelli and step-grandfather of Rhiannon (Jacob) Menard, Noel (Ricky Cuny) Urquhart, and Catie Urquhart. Proud great-grandfather of Isabella Nye and Chase Nye. Dear brother of Anthony "Tony" (Eleanor) Gnagnarelli Sr., Rosella (late Herb) Kaufman and the late Rachel (late Samuel) Dagostino . He was also a beloved uncle and cousin to his many nieces, nephews, and extended family, each held close to his heart.

Louis will also be lovingly remembered by all his dear friends and neighbor, Rich, whose companionship meant so much to him. Rich's decision to care for Louis's beloved cat, Luna, ensures that a piece of Louis's gentle spirit will remain close to him always.

The healthcare workers, family and friends who cared for him over the years weren't just caregivers; they became friends and family. Their kindness has never gone unnoticed and he loved them deeply.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Wendel & Loecher Funeral Home, 27 Aurora Street, Lancaster, followed by a funeral service & open floor for stories on Friday, July 10, at 10:00 AM.
