Of Lancaster, NY, July 7,2026, at the age of 100. Beloved wife of 70 years to the late
Salvatore "Sam" Volpe, loving mother of James F. (Nancy), Francis (Karen) and Philip (Tina);
cherished grandmother of JodyVolpe, James S. (Kirsten) Volpe, Julie (Mike) Gozdalski, Mark
Volpe, Renee (Bryan) Mertz, Nicole (Robert) Lojek, Amy (Kevin) Harris, and Anthony (Rafael)
Volpe; great-grandmother of 16; sister of Natalie Yammarino, and the late Josephine
Pogorzala, and late Anne Cozzolino. Sister-in-law of the late Kay Frame and late Mary
Deveau. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
No prior visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii RC
Church, Lancaster, Friday July 10, 2026 at 9:30 am. Please assemble at church. Rita was very proud of her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and loved nothing better than playing
cards with her family. She worked at the Central Terminal in the 1940's, and was a waitress
at the Moose when her children were young. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be
